Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach is Helping to Save the Sea Turtles

Each year, numerous sea turtle hatchlings on Florida’s coast never make their way to the water, due to improper lighting coming from residences and businesses. Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach is making an effort to improve their chances by installing sea turtle-friendly lighting.

Sea turtles have laid their eggs on these shores for millions of years, but today, numerous lights along the coastlines often deter females from nesting and disorient hatchlings whose instincts guide them towards bright areas. Turtle-friendly lighting directs lights towards the ground and utilizes long wavelength light bulbs. Our Cocoa Beach resort strives to maintain an eco-friendly mission by doing our part to help in conserving this endangered species.
